The great thing about going to this superb game reserve is that its not just about the the fantastic game drives but the whole experience such as being able to go to the beach by boat or going on a walking safari or fishing in the Bushman's River or sunbathing whilst watching the Giraffe's drink from a watering hole!

This family-owned and operated private game reserve spans nearly 9,000 hectares of pristine African wilderness, incorporating the picturesque Kariega and Bushmans Rivers. Kariega's game lodges offer a unique combination of awesome Big 5 game viewing with an expansive variety of fauna, flora and birdlife in a landscape that incorporates 5 different eco-systems, displaying the most dramatic views and vistas. The experience is very powerful and authentically African.

The four game lodges offer luxury accommodation combined with first-class African lion safaris.

A short frive east of Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, a visit to Kariega Game Reserve should be considered a natural extension of your trip along South Africa's famous 'Garden Route', between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.

Some of the reserve's land can be traced back to the 1820 settlers making it an integral part of the region's history.

The four lodges operate independently yet are part of the whole.
