One lump or two? High Tea at Cape Town's Colonial Institution.

No visit to Cape Town is complete without experiencing Mount Nelson Hotels legendary Afternoon Tea. Famous foodies and travel writers the world over describe it as being one of the best afternoon tea experiences in the world.

Not for the faint of heart, the daily buffet is laid out on the Windsor Table in the hotels Lounge area and includes savoury favourites the likes of smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches, smoked salmon grissini, local Malay specialities, and sweet temptations from chocolate confectionery, to petit fours, homemade coconut ice, marshmallows and fudge, cupcakes, scones, and assorted cakes.

Graceful notes from the Grande Piano add to the ambiance, and a selection of over thirty of the finest loose leaf teas, from Rooibos and Lapsang Souchong, to Earl Grey and Darjeeling, completes the indulgence.

Your tea comes in its own see thru pot with its own egg timer to time your brew to perfection!

Afternoon Tea is served in the Lounge, on the Terrace or in the garden around the Lord Kitchener Fountain.

Dress: Informal.

The buffet is served daily from 14h30 to 17h30 and costs ZAR 150 per adult and ZAR 75 per child under 12.

After all that tea, pop into Mount Nelsons well known bar The Planet Champagne & Cocktail Bar.

Cape Towns hottest bar combines Sex and the City-style chic with timeless elegance. Join the throng of well-heeled Capetonians for sundowner cocktails, or indulge in pre-dinner Champagne and cocktails.
